Are you ready to feel like yourself again?

Start here.

I know what it feels like to not feel like yourself.

Post-college, I lost my sense of control. I did not know what I wanted to do or who I wanted to be. As a result, I gained control through an unhealthy obsession with “clean eating” and over-exercising. I had been taught by society that being thin was the ultimate goal and that being overweight meant you were “unhealthy”.

However, diet culture does not tell you that these seemingly innocent habits can lead to harmful ones. I was obsessing over my intake and body size. My anxiety was at its peak and my digestion was completely out of whack. Even though I may have looked healthy on the outside, I was not feeling healthy on the inside.

As a result of my obsession with “health”, I wanted to learn more about nutrition, which that led me down the path of dietetics. I returned to school and successfully became an Registered Dietitian. During that time, I learned how to actually nourish myself and came to the realization that I was over-restricting foods and had an unhealthy relationship with food, which was ultimately worsening my mental health and gut health. I learned how to eat foods I love without shame or guilt and simultaneously strive for optimal health, by combining my knowledge and experience as a dietitian with the process of “intuitive eating”. In turn my relationship with food, anxiety levels, and digestive health improved.

Today, I use that same knowledge and experience to help my clients get out of a “health rut”, whether they have spent their lives chasing after a weight goal or are struggling with chronic gut-health issues.

My name is Emily Haddock, and I am a Registered Dietitian in Nashville, TN. I am here to be your support system on your personal journey to feeling your best. My focus is on improving gut health, your relationship with food and yourself.

From my experience working as a dietitian in a weight management clinic and from my own personal journey, I have found that I prefer an approach to optimal health that does not focus on weight. Restrictive diets and obsessing over the number on the scale do not work long term. Not only can diets lead to disordered eating, but many times people gain the weight back. I know the sensitivity of this topic and the interconnectedness emotions and food have, which is why I approach patients with empathy and a holistic view on health. I utilize the intuitive eating philosophy and find ways to improve nutrition through addition as opposed to restriction.

In conjunction with a weight neutral approach, I have found the most rewarding clients to work with are those struggling with gut health issues: chronic bloating; unpredictable digestion; abdominal pain. Improving my clients’ gut health improves their quality of life and can even help to level out pre-existing mental conditions (i.e. anxiety). As someone that struggles with anxiety, I know how important the gut-brain connection is and how feeling poor physically can really take a toll on your mental health. I also know how desperate I have been in the past to alleviate my anxiety.

I will do everything in my power to help you get back to feeling like yourself.

No matter what your situation is, I am here to get you to the light at the end of the tunnel. I thrive when I see my clients thriving. I want you to no longer obsess about everything that goes in your mouth and instead free up that space and attention for what is really important!

Hey there!
